Many of our group rides, including our Tuesday/Thursday evening ones, start at Hawthorn Park in Vigo County, as it is conveniently located on the main biking trail in the area. Proceed into the park and turn left to meet at the Dogwood Shelter.
The NRBC offers several types of group rides:
- Recurring group rides on Tuesday and Thursday nights
- Occur between mid-March and mid-October. Rides leave promptly at 6PM from Hawthorn Park's Dogwood Shelter unless otherwise noted. Join NRBC to receive notifications.
- A variety of group ride speeds are offered, ranging from 12 mph average up to 20 mph average.
- Distances are usually between 20 and 30 miles.
- Weekend rides
- Typical distances between 35 and 60 mile rides. Occur on Saturday mornings and visit nearby towns, diners, etc. Join the NRBC to receive details of these rides (start times, destinations, food options).
- Special holiday rides
- NRBC St Patrick's Day Ride - This is the Club Annual Fundraiser Ride. See details on Website.
- Special rides occur on major holidays, including New Year's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. These typically have both 20 and 40 mile routes. Holiday ride notification is emailed to active members.
- Annual Club Trip
- The Casual Group traditionally organizes an annual, 5-day trip to a nearby region/state in late summer. Recent rides have gone to OH, IL, WI, MI, IN. Details are published in the NRBC Newsletter several months ahead.
