The National Road Bicycle Club held its annual meeting at 5:30 pm on 9/17/2024. President/treasurer Kurt Bryan led the meeting and presented the treasurer's report. During the past year, NRBC made donations to Bikes for Tykes and B&O Trail Alliance.
Members re-elected Bryan as president/treasurer and Janice Thompson as secretary. Mike Bonnett was elected as vice president. Larry Sweet, Dave McLaughlin and Ernie Wright will continue as ride coordinators. Vigo County, IN officials and residents celebrated the opening of the first section of the new Riley Spur Trail on Wednesday, August 21. Almost 100 people of all ages gathered at the Riley Town Hall, cheered as County Commissioners cut the ribbon, then began walking, running and biking the new pavement. The town hall parking lot also serves as convenient trail parking for those wishing to use the new, almost two mile-long trail. Almost six miles of railbed is ready to be developed; eventually this trail is expected to join up with the Terre Haute trail network near Rea Park.
